Your lectures, your device.

This is a commercial preview. Purchases stay disabled until the owner configures commercial services and support details.

Policy version: October 27, 2026 (launch preparation). This notice describes the current private preview; it is not a claim of university approval or a certification of legal compliance.

Who this covers

Glass Study Space is an independent study service. The operator's legal business identity and an active privacy/support contact must be published before public enrollment or purchases. This preview is for adults aged 18 or older; do not submit children's personal information.

Your library

Lectures, typed notes, study results, audio, and attachments are saved in this browser's IndexedDB on this device. Layout preferences use localStorage. No GSS account or Google account is required to save a lecture, and signing into Chrome or Google does not sync the GSS library. Clearing browsing history alone is different from clearing cookies and site data; clearing site data, using a private browsing window that closes, uninstalling the browser, or losing the device can erase local lectures. There is no automatic cloud backup or device sync. In the workspace choose ••• → Back up everything → Save full backup regularly and before clearing site data or changing devices. A downloaded .lsbackup file contains lectures, saved study results, recordings, and attachments. It is not encrypted; keep it private and store it somewhere you control outside this browser.

Online processing

Live speech recognition uses your browser's speech service, which may process audio online. Uploaded audio is sent in chunks to Groq for transcription. Standard text study uses Groq. Requests with PDF/image attachments use Anthropic; optional Deep study also uses Anthropic. These providers process the sources needed for the requested feature under their applicable terms. Local storage does not mean AI processing is offline.

Service records

The backend stores hashed access credentials, purchase identifiers, expiry, allowance usage, and token/cost metadata. Purchase email addresses are hashed for lookup; an address entered for recovery is used to send a recovery email through Resend. Stripe handles payment details. We do not sell, rent, or share student data for advertising. We do not intentionally store raw lecture content in the application database. We share only what is needed for the feature or service a user requests, such as AI processing, payment, access recovery, or hosting. Hosting and AI providers may retain operational data under their policies.

Purposes, recipients, and retention

We process requested source material to transcribe audio and generate study tools; service records support access, allowance accounting, fraud prevention, payment fulfillment, recovery, and support. Email hashes and purchase identifiers can still be linked to a customer; they are not anonymous data. Hosting infrastructure processes network information such as IP addresses and request metadata. Requests pass through our server and the selected provider even when the saved library remains local.

The service removes recovery-request hashes after 30 days and job usage records one year after the related pass expires. Expired trial records are removed one year after expiry; paid purchase and related add-on records are kept for up to seven years from purchase for accounting and disputes, then removed after the pass has been expired for at least one year. Refund/dispute revocation records are kept for seven years. Cleanup runs when the service receives requests, at most once per day; records may remain longer during periods with no traffic or interrupted maintenance. Hosting logs, backups, and provider records follow their own retention practices. Provider retention and international processing depend on their services, model and account settings; we do not promise zero retention or deletion from all provider systems when you delete a local lecture. See Groq data practices, Anthropic privacy information, Stripe privacy, and Resend privacy. Provider training/retention settings must be verified before live student uploads.

Cookies, sharing, and security

An HttpOnly access-session cookie maintains activated access; browser storage saves preferences and the library. The application does not add advertising pixels or third-party marketing analytics. The workspace does not request remote fonts or advertising resources. The hosting platform and browser speech service have their own data practices. Summary sharing exports the selected title and saved summary; the summary itself may contain private or copyrighted information. Review it before sharing. Downloaded backups and shared files are outside the app's deletion controls.

Protect your device and access key. Local browser storage and exported backups are not app-encrypted. We use server-side provider credentials and signed access sessions, but no service can promise perfect security. Do not upload passwords, payment details, government identifiers, patient records, other students' grades, or other sensitive information.

Recovery and removal

You can delete individual lectures on this device. Back up first if you want to keep them. To move devices, transfer the .lsbackup file privately and choose ••• → Restore backup in the workspace on the other device. Deactivating access does not delete local lectures. An access key or purchase email can restore paid service access where supported, but neither restores a missing local library. If local site data is lost and you have no backup, we cannot recover those lectures. Purchase-related support and data requests use the configured support contact below. Downloaded backup files remain wherever you saved them.

Use the support contact for access, correction, deletion, or privacy complaints about server-held records. We may need to verify control of the purchase without requesting your lecture library. Legal, accounting, security, and dispute records may need to be retained. An activated user may end access and remove usage details and the recovery email hash in Access & settings. This revokes that pass and its add-ons on every device. Purchase and refund identifiers remain for accounting and disputes; it does not erase Stripe or provider records. Do not email recordings or sensitive course material with a request. Rights and response deadlines depend on applicable law; this notice does not waive them.

Changes

We will date revised notices and describe material changes before introducing materially different data uses. This private preview is not open for public enrollment.
